Reality is mediated by those who have power
or so we are led to believe
Crisis – the news – updates by the hour
feeding us constant anxiety
.
We hear only broken beauty
.
While the cleverest of minds intellectually joust
Just a theatre of prose, taught, don’t bring down the house
Politics of words shape shifting the view
Of our everyday lives, we can’t handle the truth?
.
We’re shown only broken beauty
.
Ministry of defence is the ministry of war
International development – exploiting the poor
Liberation to strive – a better world for all
Or the struggle to compete in a gladiators hall
.
Seeing only broken beauty…
.
Switch off; game online, now you’ve got control?
While most in the real world have no agency at all
The corridors of power lead in paths to deception
Will the ugliness to deceive prove king of it all?
.
Logic – that cannot come true
Even natures fundamental laws
Are beautiful too
.
Broken hearts, broken lives, broken beauty
Lost in our world of deception
The mighty chaos without a direction?
.
But the simplest of answers is true
Pure love never lies bleeding
Its path will always shine through
.
When honesty reigns in our hearts
A kingdom of lies falls away from our eyes
And no matter how unlettered
Wisdom you’ll gain – loves reality shines
.
I don’t believe in broken beauty

Michelle,
Your words are so true and cut through the clutter of politics on all levels. What a great piece of work…
As my grandfather would say, “Good Going!”
Well done!
Kindly,
